Responses & Analytics¶
Track, view, and analyse form submissions from your dashboard.
Viewing Responses¶
From the Dashboard¶
The dashboard gives you quick access to responses:
- Stat cards — click the "Responses" or "Total Forms" cards to jump straight to your data
- Form list — each form card shows a response count and links directly to that form's responses
- Recent Activity — the activity stream shows the latest form submissions and workflow events, with direct links to each
Response List¶
- Go to Dashboard → click a form → Responses tab.
- You'll see a table of all submissions with:
- Submission timestamp
- Key field values (preview columns)
- Status indicator
Individual Response Detail¶
Click any row to view the full submission:
- All field values displayed clearly
- File download links (for file upload fields)
- Payment status (if payments are enabled)
- Submission metadata:
- Date and time submitted
- Time taken to complete
- Sections visited
- User agent / browser info
Submission Metadata¶
Drift automatically captures metadata with each submission:
| Metadata | Description |
|---|---|
| Timestamp | When the form was submitted |
| Time to Complete | How long the respondent spent on the form |
| Sections Visited | Which sections the respondent saw (for multi-section forms) |
| User Agent | Browser and device information |
| IP Address | Respondent's IP address |
Analytics¶
Overview Metrics¶
The analytics tab shows:
- Total Responses — all-time submission count
- Responses per Day — a 30-day bar chart showing daily submission volume
- Date Range Filter — narrow analytics to a specific time period
Field-Level Analytics¶
For each field, Drift shows:
- Response Rate — percentage of respondents who answered this field
- Distribution — for choice fields (radio, dropdown, checkboxes), see how answers are distributed across options
- Most/Least Answered — identify which questions respondents engage with or skip
Trend Sparklines¶
Small sparkline charts appear on the dashboard and forms list, giving you an at-a-glance view of response activity over the last 7–14 days.
AI Insights (Pro)¶
On the Pro plan, Drift uses AI to analyse your responses and surface insights:
- Themes — common patterns and topics across free-text answers
- Anomalies — unusual responses or spikes in activity
- Trends — how responses are changing over time
- Summaries — plain-English overviews of your data
Access AI insights from the Analytics tab on any form.
Exporting Data¶
Export your responses for offline analysis:
- CSV — comma-separated values for spreadsheets
- Excel — native
.xlsxformat
Exports include all field values plus submission metadata.
Sharing Responses¶
Drift can send a read-only link to a single response, or to all responses for a form, so people outside your team can review what was submitted without needing a Drift account.
Creating a share link¶
- For a single response, open the response and click Share in the top-right.
- For all responses, open the form's Responses tab and click Share next to the title.
In the dialog you'll choose:
- Access — how recipients prove who they are:
- Password — anyone with the link plus the password gets in.
- Email code — only the email addresses you list can request a six-digit code (sent to their inbox, valid for 10 minutes).
- Anyone with link — no proof needed. Paid plans only.
- What recipients see (when sharing all responses) — choose what the shared page shows:
- Response list — individual responses displayed one by one, the same way you see them in the admin panel.
- Analytics — an aggregate summary for every field: answer rates, choice distributions, and numeric stats (min, avg, max). No individual responses are visible.
- Both (with toggle) — the shared page includes a tab bar so recipients can switch between the response list and the analytics view themselves.
- Expiry — pick a preset (1 day to 1 year). Every link must expire; there is no "forever" option.
- Label — optional note to help you find the link later (e.g. "for the marketing team").
- Hide fields — on paid plans, you can hide selected fields from the shared view. Hidden fields apply across all view types — they won't appear in individual responses or in the analytics summary.
When you confirm, Drift gives you a short link (/r/...) that you can copy and send.
Managing existing links¶
Click the small gear icon next to Share on the Responses tab to open Manage share links. From there you can:
- Copy the URL for any active link.
- Extend an expiry that's coming up.
- Revoke a link immediately — anyone with the URL or an active session loses access right away.
The table also shows how many times each link has been viewed and when it was last accessed.
Plan limits¶
| Feature | Free | Pro / Enterprise |
|---|---|---|
| Active shares per form | 3 | Unlimited |
| Maximum expiry | 7 days | 1 year |
| Anyone-with-link access | — | Yes |
| Analytics view and "Both" view type | Yes | Yes |
| Hide specific fields | — | Yes |
Old share links and access history are automatically pruned after 90 days.
Spam Protection¶
Drift includes built-in honeypot protection to filter bot submissions. Suspected bot submissions are silently discarded and don't appear in your response list.
Response Limits¶
Response limits depend on your plan:
| Plan | Responses/Month |
|---|---|
| Free | 50 |
| Pro | 10,000 |
| Enterprise | Unlimited |
When you reach your limit, forms stop accepting new responses until the next billing period. You'll see a notification on your dashboard when you're approaching the limit.
